Well, it was obvious, wasn't it? That Arden and Kamala would just have a whole buzz of people around them. Eleanor was just sort of the weird girl who somehow managed to stumble into being their friends after almost a year of not really having made many at all on her own.
"I don't know about that," said Eleanor. "Storms can be pretty scary over the water, and a lot of people have a fear of drowning. And you don't know what's down there." She took in a small breath. "Most of the ocean hasn't even been explored. That's something that's scary to a lot of people."
And rightfully so.
"I love it, though," she added, the odd distance her voice had taken making a turn toward wistful. Almost longing. "Sometimes because of its unfathomable vastness..."
