"Midnight'll keep her safe," Marc said. Which had more meaning behind it than simply making sure Arden didn't fall off a roof. Marc may have had some thoughts about sending the people hurting Arden through some of the worst Midnight could do given how much agony Arden had been in.

"If she needs it, we'll get you," Marc said to Duke as far as the blood went. "We'll take care of her."

That one was both a promise and a small acknowledgement that Duke might give a shit about Arden being taken care of at all.
